The Beaches¶

Cylinder Beach¶

The most popular patrolled beach — ideal for swimming and beginner surfers thanks to its safe conditions. Accessible via a car park, or a 40-minute walk from the North Gorge Walk.

Frenchmans Beach¶

A secluded, unpatrolled beach near Point Lookout, ideal for a peaceful walk or relaxing on the shore. Swimming — including snorkelling — isn't recommended here due to dangerous currents and strong tides.

Main Beach¶

A 30km stretch, great for experienced surfers and swimmers, patrolled in sections. Also a popular 4WD beach.

Flinders Beach¶

A long, unpatrolled beach near Amity Point — great for fishing, swimming, and 4WD adventures. Less crowded, with a raw, natural vibe.

Deadmans Beach¶

A 600m unpatrolled beach with stunning rockpools, between Frenchmans and Deadmans. Good for a quieter swim, but exercise caution.

Home Beach¶

A tranquil, unpatrolled beach close to Point Lookout's main area, perfect for a relaxing dip — and a prime spot to watch the sunset.

Surfing Lessons¶

Cylinder Beach and Main Beach both have lessons for beginners and intermediates through providers like Stradbroke Island Surf School. Equipment provided; sessions typically 1–2 hours, year-round weather permitting.
